Berton Brown

Lobbyist/Principal of
Kelley Cawthorne Empower

Berton Brown hails from Flint. “Flintstones” are, by nature, competitive and entrepreneurial. Berton fits the bill on both counts. He was staffer for two of his hometown legislators before becoming a lobbyist. Berton went on to form Michigan’s largest African American-owned government and business development consulting firm, Brown Consulting Group. In 2021, he merged his firm with ours to create a new initiative, Kelley Cawthorne Empower. Kelley Cawthorne Empower focuses on diversity and inclusion, community engagement, traditionally under-represented entities, and micro-business licensing for the cannabis industry. Berton’s clients include New Tech Network, Flint Community Schools, and Pleasantrees. Learn more about Kelley Cawthorne Empower here.
